In short: Readwright has no accounts, no analytics, no ads and no tracking. Your books, highlights, notes and settings are stored only in your browser on your own computer. We do not run any server that receives your data, and we never sell or share it.

What Readwright keeps on your device

• The books you open, with their title, author, cover and the place where you stopped reading.
• Your highlights and notes.
• Your settings: appearance (theme, font, size, layout) and read-aloud preferences (speed and the voice you chose).

All of this is stored in your browser's local extension storage. It is not sent to us or to anyone else. Removing a book from the shelf deletes it and its highlights. Uninstalling the extension removes everything.

When Readwright goes online

• Opening a book from a link, only when you ask. If you right-click a link to a book and choose “Open in Readwright”, Readwright asks you to allow access to that one website, then downloads that file from that website. The request does not carry your sign-in for that site. Nothing is sent to us.
• Read aloud. Reading aloud uses the voices built into your browser. If you choose an online voice (in Microsoft Edge, the voices marked “Online”), your browser sends the sentence being read to the voice service of the browser maker so that it can be turned into speech; that company's privacy policy applies. Voices installed on your computer work without sending anything.
• Links inside a book. If you click a link in a book that points to a website, it opens in a new tab like any other link.

Books themselves cannot go online: scripts inside books never run, and pictures, fonts or other content from the internet are not loaded.

Information is used only to provide the features you see, and never for advertising, profiling or credit decisions.

Children

Readwright is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.
